St Andrew's day is close at hand! Monday November 30th is the actual holiday. However, The Republican Pub at 917 South, St Street in Salt Lake City will be observing St Andrew's Day all weekend. Bar owner Jason says "If the Scottish bar up the street wants to celebrate St Patrick's day six months out of the year... the Irish bar can celebrate St Andrew's Day!" Come enjoy the great Scottish party with the Heathen Highlanders, November 27th and 28th. See you there.

OK so, things are a bit slow for us this month. We've had a bunch of solo shows but not allot of group stuff. However, last Saturday we played at South Town Mall to help welcome Santa Clause and kick off the Christmas season a bit early. The Heathens led a parade of sports mascots, kids and St Nick riding on the B.R.T... That's Big Red Truck. Yes... Santa ditched the slay and let Sandy City Fire take him to the mall in style. It was a bit cold, but all who showed up had a good time!

Heathens

September was a fairly productive month for the Heathen Highlanders. In addition to several private functions, members of the Heathens were out in the public performing at The International Peace Gardens Festival, The West Jordan September 11th Tatoo, Piper Down and Maggie McGee's 1/2 way to St Patrick's Day Parties, the birthday party for Piper Down owner Dave Morris, Sheep Wagon Days Festival and the Clan McGilavry annual gathering. The Heathens were happy to be joined by several members of The L.A. Scots drum line and Irish rock band Swagger @ Piper Down. We hope that those who attended the gigs had a good time. We did!

The Heathen Highlanders Blog is Changing

In the past this blog has been used as a home page for the Heathen Highlanders. However... with the introduction of http://www.heathenhighlanders.com/ earlier this year, the blog style home page is no longer necessary. So we're changing over to become an actual blog. On this page members of the Heathens can log on and enter posts about Heathen gigs, events and the life of a Heathen Highlander. It's just a new way for us to casually give information about what's going on.

I hope that friends and fans of the group will join in and comment. We're looking forward to the first post after the 1/2 Way to St Patrick's Day Party at Piper Down this weekend.

Utah's one and only Freelance Mercenary Pipe Corps

It all started one late October night in 2005; Mike, Ian and Dave met together on the Piper Down stage to show the crowd what they had. They struck in, and the bar went wild. From that moment on, the idea that was to become the Heathen Highlanders was born. Time passed, and the group has grown to be eleven members strong. They perform at bar shows, conventions, weddings, funerals, bar mitzvahs, and any other events imaginable. No job is too odd. This rag tag bunch of miscreants are dedicated to blaring loud Scottish and Irish bagpipe music, emptying barrels of punch, wooing lonely women and having a lot of fun. They are easily recognized by their lack of uniformity and complete disregard for the rules of traditional piping. If you happen to run into one of these guys around Salt Lake City, don’t worry; everyone but Steve has received their rabies shots. Just drop a dollar in the jug and enjoy.
